1. It takes the brain about 20 minutes to register that the stomach is full, so because we tend to eat much quicker these days, we will overeat — literally — by going past capacity without the brain realizing. Thus a good way to lose weight is simply to eat slower.

2. Drastically cutting the calories is far from the most efficient, or even the most successful, way to lose weight. If you reduce your caloric intake to much below what your body needs (and everybody’s body has different needs) it will go into “starvation mode” and readjust your metabolism to burn what you are consuming more slowly and still store some as far for vital functions or emergencies.

3. People who experience the least weight gain in middle age are likely to have a much happier old age. This isn’t simply because of the better health aspect, but test studies carried out in Sweden have shown a much higher level of emotional and spiritual wellbeing too.

4. We ought to eat five small meals a day rather than three, or less, huge ones — you wouldn’t run your car until the tank was bone dry and then fill it to the point that gas was sloping out over your shoes, would you?

5. Eating yogurt will actually help you lose weight, as the high calcium content provides a catalyst for your body to burn fat more efficiently and will actually limit the amount of fat your body will support.

6. White poultry meat will contain roughly half the intrinsic fat of dark meat. The dark meat (the legs) is made from slow twitch muscle fibers of the type used for persistent activities such as walking, while the breast is fast twitch muscle for sudden, occasional movements, and the former requires a greater store of fat to function efficiently.

7. Margarine or vegetable oil spreads have to have less than 65 percent fat to be allowed to call themselves “reduced fat” and 40 percent or less to bear the name “low fat”.

8. Remember to eat when you are hungry, not BORED! This rule right here can help reduce weight greatly.

    I liked all the tips especially the one suggesting to eat slow. I do eat yoghurt in summers and I actually feel that I am less fatty in summers.
